Axl Rose is set to become the lead singer for AC/DC

AC/DC has confirmed Axl Rose will join them as their lead singer for the remainder of their current world tour.

The British/Australian heavy metal rockers said 54-year-old Rose will replace 68-year-old Brian Johnson on their 'Rock Or Bust World Tour' since their longtime frontman is suffering from serious hearing loss.

AC/DC broke off a North American tour last month due to Johnson's hearing issues and said will make his debut with the band on a 12-show European leg starting on May 7 in Lisbon.

A press statement from AC/DC said:

"Band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years.

'We wish him all the best with his hearing issues and future ventures. As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian's decision to stop touring and save his hearing.'

This weekend the Guns N' Roses tour bus broke down on its way to Coachella but the band still made it and performed as part of their reunion last night (April 16).

After touring in Europe with AC/DC, Rose will return to the U.S. for the Guns N' Roses 10 arena dates.

Ten postponed AC/DC dates in North America will be rescheduled at a later date.
