James Morrison, KT Tunstall, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Ed Harcourt and others will be contributing original songs and cover versions to a charity album, 'Songs To Save A Life', in aid of Samaritans. 

As well as raising money for the charity, the man behind the album, Richard Cardwell, hopes that it will also raise awareness of the charity and the help it offers to those with depression.

Morrison, who has recently scored a number one album, grew up watching his parents battling with depression so he holds this project with great regard:

"I think just having someone to talk to – what can I do to help, or what can I do to get out of this situation, or some advice in general – would have helped me to be able to know what to expect some days. I think Samaritans is an amazing charity. It's easy to see what a good job they do."

The 'You Give Me Something' singer will be covering David Bowie's 'Changes', KT Tunstall will be working on Simple Minds' 'Don't You (Forget About Me)' and Ed Harcourt will be taking on Bill Fay's 'Be Not So Fearful'. 

All of the artists and everyone else involved with the album, did so free of charge. 

The album, 'Songs To Save A Life', is released on October 3.
