Jennifer Lopez has revealed that she feels the need to be single at the moment.

The singer split from boyfriend Casper Smart recently after being in a relationship for two and a half years.

Speaking to the Meredith Vieira Show on Monday (September 8), Lopez said that she will use her time as a single person to rediscover herself.

The US star said: "I'm just being on my own. I feel like I need that right now, I've been in relationships kind of back to back my whole life and I just needed time.

"I need time to just chill and just know me and enjoy my kids and actually make time for other friends instead of just the relationship thing."

The singer's last marriage, which was with Marc Anthony, effectively ended in 2011 when the pair went their separate ways.

Lopez has been divorced three times.
