JLo on 'messy parts of life': 'Loving yourself means forgiving yourself and I struggle with that'

'Booty' songstress Jennifer Lopez is gearing up to release her tell-all memoir, which is called 'True Love', on November 4 and in the book she opens up about the importance of self-forgiveness.

Writing about getting yourself through the really 'messy parts of life', the superstar explained that it helps if you can accept the bad times rather than be mad about what's going on and admitted that she struggles with moving on without resentment:

"It's the messy parts of life that make us human, so we should embrace them too - pat ourselves on the back for getting through them rather than being angry for having gotten into them."

"Part of loving yourself is about forgiving yourself - which is something I've always struggled with. Being ambitious, being a perfectionist, means I've spent my life beating myself up for not being good enough, or for screwing something up. It took a long time, but I finally figured out that I wouldn't have half the instincts or insights I've had as an artist over the years if not for those screw-ups."
