JLo: 'I finally understand that there's a purity to love'

'Booty' star Jennifer Lopez will release her highly anticipated tell-all book, 'True Love', on November 4 and she has opened up about the exact moment she learned what 'unconditional love' really means.

Speaking to America's 'The Today Show', the songstress explained that the kind of love she felt for her children was unlike anything else she has experienced and believes that it helped her to understand what love really is:

"When I had my children and I felt that type of love, it made me understand that there was a purity to love. That there is an unconditional love. That there is a certain way you feel about someone, where you don't want to hurt them. Where you wanna protect them, you know, and it made me go, wait a minute, that's not the love I've been experiencing."

Lopez had her children, 6-year-old twins Max and Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony and confessed that telling them about the divorce has been very tough:

"It's funny; they asked me about like, what happened with me and their dad. They're six now. I tell them certain things, and then I say, 'When you're older I'll explain it to you.' But what I would hope they get from the book is that they save me. Their love and loving them and them coming into my life really made me re-evaluate what I was doing with my life, and the relationships and the choices I was making in relationships sometimes, that only had to do with me, not the other person."
