JLo on Marc Anthony marriage: 'I knew very quickly it wasn't the right thing'

Superstar Jennifer Lopez has revealed that she knew her relationship with ex-husband Marc Anthony "wasn't the right thing" fairly early on, but tried to make it work regardless.

During a new interview with W magazine, the 'On The Floor' beauty explained that she knew they weren't going to work shortly after their 2004 wedding: "I hung in there for seven years. I knew very quickly that it wasn't the right thing."

The pair welcomed twins Max and Emme in 2008 and then they divorced in 2014.

She added: "When it comes to work, I never get tired. But with personal failures, I have thought, 'This is too hard'. When my marriage ended, it was not easy to find forgiveness. It wasn't the dream that I had hoped for, and it would have been easier to fan the flames of resentment, disappointment, and anger. But Marc is the father of my children and that's never going away. So, I have to work to make things right. And that is, by far, the hardest work I do."

Lopez, meanwhile, recently told The Late Late Host James Corden that she has been proposed to quite a lot over the years:

"I've had some amazing proposals. You know, I've been married a couple times. I'm still trying to get it right! I don't want to compare one (proposal) to another. They were all pretty spectacular. Then there were some that asked me to marry them, but I said no."
