Jennifer Lopez defends "inappropriate" BGT performance

Stunning songstress Jennifer Lopez has defended her much-criticised Britain's Got Talent performance, claiming she is "so tame" in comparison to others.

The international superstar appeared on the hit TV talent show on Tuesday night (May 28) to perform her latest single 'Live It Up'.

However, her skimpy stage outfit - which showed off a lot of her backside and beyond - prompted criticism from viewers, claiming the performance was far too raunchy for a family show.

Speaking in an interview on Scott Mills' Radio 1 show, Lopez defended her attire explaining: "I think people are so raunchier than I am. I feel like I’m so tame. We wore it at Billboard and Britain’s Got Talent said they wanted exactly the same. So I thought I’d wear the outfit in black. No one complained at Billboard.

"I think people just like to talk. It was a body suit. A lot of performers wear that these days. It is standard stage clothes. I’m not going to walk down the street like that!"

Lopez also admitted her energetic performance left her sore.

She added: "I’m a pro – I know what I’m doing. I would never take those types of risks or anything like that. You should see my knees. In rehearsals I really banged my knees up from sliding and dancing on the floor.

"Luckily with that outfit, which is why I wore it on Billboard and on Britain’s Got Talent, is that I can wear a very small knee pad underneath, because I have those tall boots. I was so happy that I could wear it as I was very raw from rehearsals and I cut it open the day before."

Twitter users posted about the family nature of the show and how Lopez's performance wasn't befitting of its audience.

A spokesperson for media regulators Ofcom confirmed to the Daily Mail that a number of complaints have been received regarding the 'Live It Up' performance. They said:

"Ofcom can confirm that it has received complaints about the Britain’s Got Talent broadcast last night, which we are assessing but not currently investigating."
