Jessie J aims for stripped-back second album

Jessie J has admitted she wants her second album to be a more stripped-back affair than her chart-topping debut.

The 23-year-old, who recently scored a second number one single with ‘Domino’, told The Daily Star that the new material she is currently working on is more melody-driven than 2011’s ‘Who You Are:’

“One thing I’m doing is recording songs acoustically and building on from there. The last album was very production-based and beats heavy. It was more people coming to me with rhythms and me writing to them.

“This time I want to focus on where the melody goes rather than the beat. One song in particular I’ve written is very close to my heart. It’s just me and the piano. It’s an exciting process.”

The Essex singer, who’s just started filming on the BBC’s version of The Voice, also confessed that she’s so scared about any new songs leaking that she only plays them to her parents:

"I haven't played them to anyone. I'm so paranoid the songs will get leaked or my computer hacked that nobody gets to hear them until they're ready - only mum and dad."

Jessie, who picked up last year’s BRITs Critics Choice Award, is nominated for three gongs tonight, Best British Female, Best British Breakthrough and Best British Single for ‘Price Tag.’
