British songstress Jessie J is "filled with happiness" after shaving off her signature locks for Comic Relief.

The 'Price Tag' singer  first announced plans to get her hair buzzed off for charity last year. Last night (March 15) Jessie sat down with comedian Lenny Henry and a professional hairdresser live on UK's BBC 1 to shear off her trademark slick black bob.

Taking to Twitter after the event, Jessie wrote: "I am soooo thankful to everyone who has donated @rednoseday and supported me tonight! My heart is filled with happiness! Lets make a change! X (sic)"

Jessie also took to picture sharing website Instagram to share a picture of her first photoshoot with her newly shaved head.

"My first shoot with no hair! Kept touching my head lol what day night! So honoured to be a part of @rednoseday (sic)" she added alongside the image.

Tweets from fans have been flooding in, with one Twitter user posting: "Jessie J is such an inspiration."

Another follower of beauty's praised her for being such an inspiration, writing: "Fair play to @JessieJ for cutting her hair off, she's doing something big for money! #ComicRelief #Inspiring (sic)."
