Jessie J on having a stroke at 18: 'I certainly don't take life for granted any more'

'Do It Like A Dude' beauty Jessie J has admitted that suffering a stroke as a teenage has forever changed her perspective on life and she has realised that it can end at any time regardless of how you choose to live.

Speaking to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, the hitmaker explained that she doesn't drink or do drugs so enduring such a serious health problem at just 18-years-old has taught her not to take anything for granted, but also not to overwork herself:

"I was in a girl band at the time and had, like, four jobs. I was really tired and my body shut down. It made me realise that no matter how much you take care of yourself - and I don't drink, smoke or do drugs - you can always have your life taken away."

"I am very strict and I definitely have not been faffing around."

Jessie J added that she likes to pass advice and personal lessons onto the teams she mentors on 'The Voice' because she has learned that tough teachers are usually the best: "For me it's all about the vocal training. I tell my team to get there on time, warm up and even make sure the water is room temperature - as anything cold can give you a dry throat. The toughest teachers are the ones I've learned the most from."

Meanwhile, she unveiled her new single 'Wild' over the weekend and revealed that she has been overwhelmed by her fans' responses to it.
