Jessie J: 'I don't want people to mistake my confidence for arrogance'

Pop superstar and former mentor on 'The Voice' Jessie J has revealed that she feels as though she is a little misunderstood.

During an interview with Britain's Daily Mail recently, she confessed that it worries her to think people might look at her as being arrogant because confidence is often mistaken for that:

"When I look back, I can see why people thought I was aggressive."

"My first single, 'Do It Like A Dude', resulted in a lot of misconceptions about me. I’m confident — but I’m not arrogant."

The 'It's My Party' added that her self-assured nature comes from her childhood when she would have to go out of her way to make herself stand out at auditions when the students she was competing with for roles were all larger than life:

"My attitude goes back to my childhood. I used to audition for theatrical roles, and you can’t stand out in a room full of ambitious eight-year-old girls by acting the wallflower. I realised then that I couldn’t do things half-heartedly."
