Jessie J talks fatal gig stabbing: "I was heartbroken"

Jessie J has spoken out for the first time about the death of one of her gig-goers last year.

As previously reported, a man was found guilty for murder in November after he attacked a fellow attendee with a bottle at a BlackBerry gig in London last April.

Jessie J was the performer that night and she told Time Out that she was left devastated after the incident, which saw 26-year-old Ashley Charles jailed for at least fourteen years.

She said: "I've never actually spoken about this. You never expect to have someone lose their life at your show.

"I was heartbroken. I'd left the building when it happened, but the thought that the last thing he saw was me singing live? That stuck with me for a long time."

36-year-old Phillip Sherriff was attacked in the neck by Charles and ultimately died four days after the gig.

Bouncers at the ill-fated gig said in court that Charles told them: "Is he okay? I wish I had not done that. It was a stupid mistake."
