Jessie J says she received death threats after cancelling shows through illness

Jessie J has revealed that she was sent death threats after cancelling some shows due to poor health.

The singer has a long-standing heart problem and this can often leave the former Voice UK coach tired and ill.

Speaking to Time Out, the 'It's My Party' star admitted that some fans unfortunately sent her death threats after she shelved two shows in Europe in the summer. She said:

"I still have a heart deficiency and have days when I struggle. The fans don't get that sometimes. The abuse that you get if you cancel a show...it's scary."

Jessie J added: "I've had death threats for cancelling shows! With social media young people use words of hatred so flippantly now. It's either, 'I love you!' or, 'I hate you and I want you to die!' There's no middle ground. Everything's an extreme because people want to be noticed. I used to comment back but I've learned not to do that. I've had fans go, 'I didn't mean it. I just wanted to get your attention'."

Jessie J was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat at age 7 and she suffered a stroke aged 18.
