JLS plead for Simon Cowell to make X Factor return

JLS have called on Simon Cowell to rejoin the UK X Factor.

The show's supremo and former judge left the series after its 2010 run to join up with the US edition of the reality show, where he sits alongside the likes of Britney Spears.

He has been tipped to make some sort of appearance on this year's UK series but JLS - who came runners up on the show in 2008 - told Digital Spy that he should make a definite return.

Marvin Humes said: "He has to return, definitely. He still does Britain's Got Talent. Obviously with the schedule of the US X Factor it's very difficult, but he has to come back."

Bandmate JB Gill meanwhile added: "I don't think it's on the way out at all. People say, 'The winners never do this, the winners never do that'. But there are winners who have been successful - and it's not just down to the winners. It's a competition, yes, but it's also a way for people to get into the industry - whether you win, or whether you come fifth, or last in the competition."

JLS slam X Factor "witch hunt"

JLS have slammed the "witch hunt" against X Factor contestants Rylan Clark and Christopher Maloney.

The boy band - comprising Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams, J.B. Gill and Marvin Humes - were runners up on the fifth series of the hit TV talent show.

Controversial contestants in this year's competition Clark and Maloney have faced a barrage of criticism from people who believe they shouldn't still be in the running for the ultimate X Factor prize.

However, JLS disagree with such condemnation from viewers of the show.

Speaking to Digital Spy band member Humes said: "One thing I don't like is the witch hunt with Chris and Rylan. I think it's unfair. Those guys, all they did was enter a competition to try and change their lives and get exposure. It's not their fault they're still here. People are voting for them. Everyone says this thing about a 'fix'."

He added: "When people say it's a fix I don't understand what they mean. It's ridiculous. I think if something was a fix the favourite would win. It doesn't make sense to me. But I do think it's unfair that they're getting death threats and bad press and things like that. I think it's really bad.

"They're just two guys that wanted to enter a competition like we did. Like Leona Lewis did. Like One Direction did."

JLS have complimented One Direction on their massive worldwide success.

The 'Little Things' stars have just released their second album 'Take Me Home', which has topped the charts in 32 countries, including the UK, US and Australia.

It seems the group are the pace-setters in the British boyband stakes - but it is something that JLS don't mind.

Speaking to Capital FM, Aston Merrygold praised One Direction on their talent and also their personalities. The singer said:

"It's always good to see the boys conquering the world. Literally, those boys are so humble, so down to earth and so talented. And the fact [they've had] number ones all over the place – it's the 1D revolution right now."

He added about the group's recent success: "I did manage to cop myself a couple of the songs and the album itself, so I'm very proud to be a part of that bandwagon – well done boys."

Marvin Humes of JLS: 'It's true that Niall Horan just bought my old house'

JLS heartthrob Marvin Humes has confirmed the recent rumours that suggested One Direction's Niall Horan had purchased his home as true.

During an interview with Yahoo! OMG yesterday (November 15), newly married Humes explained that Horan has bought the house and will be moving in soon, but doesn't know which room he might choose to sleep in:

"Yeah! I dunno what room he's gonna choose for his bedroom but it's true he bought my place."

The JLS lads also described One Direction as 'little brothers' because they often turn to them for advice: "One Direction came from the same show as us so they're kinda like our younger brothers.

"We watched them grow and they've done incredibly well so yeah they come to us for advice and we give them the best we can."

Member JB also opened up about the current season of The X Factor, adding that Union J have the potential to win as they're following a similar road JLS travelled on while they took part in the TV vocal talent show back in '08:

"We were in the bottom two at one point in the show and we went on to come second to Alexandra [Burke] so I think there's definitely scope for them to get to the final if not go on and win it, you never know."

Speaking about the dolls, JB explained to Wylde magazine that he didn't think it looked like him and wasn't pleased with the final design: "I wasn't very happy with mine. The second edition was alright."

Oritse Williams laughed and added: "JB's one looks like Akon, or a Caribbean George Michael!"

Member Marvin Humes also joined in, explaining that selling dolls as merchandise is a profitable business: "The whole doll thing was incredible. Take That and N*Sync did it back in the day. Now it's massive again. All the boybands have dolls. We've brought that back."

Meanwhile, JLS landed at No.3 in the midweek chart update yesterday (November 7) with their new album 'Evolution' and the final position will be confirmed on Sunday, November 11.

The British pop scene has enjoyed a great amount of success via its male groups recently, with One Direction, The Wanted and JLS all hitting the big time with aplomb.

Girls Aloud reunited recently to celebrate their 10th anniversary and JLS said in the Daily Star that whilst they're looking forward to seeing their 2013 tour, the boys might be put on the back foot. They said:

"Girls Aloud are back and we want to see their tour. Their new single 'Something New' feels as if, subliminally, the Girls are coming at all the boybands, because they're saying the girls are back."

They continued: "But you could say Cheryl was part of bringing a new era of boy bands. She put us through on The X Factor, and was on the show the same year 1D were on. For the fans, it'll be lovely to see them all back together."

JLS have revealed their desire to keep making music for another two decades.

The boyband have been active since leaving the X Factor as runners-up in 2008 and they have just released their fourth studio album 'Evolution'.

Responding to news that Robbie Williams has seemingly been removed from the Radio 1 playlist due to his age and apparent decreasing relevance to their audience, JLS said that they hope they can keep on going for as long as Williams and Take That - another 20 years, to be precise. Marvin Humes told The Sun:

"Take That have evolved into a manband. There's always going to be that love, as they've had such a great career, and that's something we aspire to. We want to be JLS for ever – and as long as we keep making good music and keep busy then there's no reason we can't be here in 20 years' time."

The singer later added: "We always want to be a part of JLS. At some point in the future we will be doing our own projects but we're just focused on our next album, our next tour. We will forever be JLS – we're a brotherhood."

JLS: "This year's X Factor groups need to be original"

JLS have advised this year's X Factor bands to be unique.

The UK pop scene currently contains a number of successful boybands - such as One Direction and The Wanted - and fellow established act JLS believe that new bands need to try something different in order to make an impact.

District3 and Union J are the only groups left in the 2012 competition but speaking to Digital Spy, Aston Merrygold said that because of the market's saturation and variety, they need to be original. He said:

"Those two boybands are going to have to come out with something extremely different from what's in the market now. You've got the likes of us, The Wanted, 1D...Lawson. You've got a total mix and it's going to be hard to find your own lane."

The 'Evolution' star added: "They're going to have to try and come out with something different. That show does bring out the best in UK talent, you can't deny that."

JLS announce livestream fan party to celebrate new album's release

To commemorate the release of their brand new album 'Evolution', the JLS lads are going to host a special livestream party for their fans around the world.

Although the event, which will take place on November 5 at 7pm BST, is set to be streamed online for international access the heartthrobs are also giving fans in the UK the chance to attend the event in person, and will share information about how to enter for tickets later today (October 30).

A message on JLS' official website explains: "That’s right, on the 5th of November 2012 (the release date of ‘Evolution’) your four favourite boys are going to be holding a livestream party. We want you to join us online, ask your questions, make some noise and celebrate with us! It all starts at 7pm – make sure you have the date in your diary!"

Speaking about the highly anticipated new record earlier this month, JLS revealed that they wanted "to bring UK R&B back to the masses":

"Evolution' is edgier, more R&B. We went back to basics, making a record of how we want to sound for the next few years, hence the Evolution title."
