JLS star Aston Merrygold has revealed that he never makes New Year's resolutions.

As January 1 hits, millions of people across the globe will pick certain objectives that they wish to achieve during 2013.

However, Merrygold told the Daily Star that he isn't one to set himself resolutions - because he likes to "have fun too much". He said:

"I don't make resolutions, I never keep them! If I want to change something in my life, I'll just do it spontaneously when I'm ready."

The 'Hottest Girl In The World' star added: "If I say I'm gonna give up drinking or whatever, it won't happen. I like to go out and have fun too much."

As previously reported, JLS have teamed up with BlackBerry to give their fans a chance to chat to their idols via mobile phone.

The special competition has been thought up to help launch BBM Voice app.

Aston Merrygold "superstar" judge

JLS' Aston Merrygold is a "superstar" on the Got To Dance judging panel.

The singer joined the reality TV show's coveted panel this series alongside Kimberly Wyatt and Ashley Banjo, following the departure of Adam Garcia.

Presenter Davina McCall admits her initial concerns about Merrygold joining the panel were proven totally unfounded when the cheeky charmer proved his credentials during audition stages.

She told OK! magazine: "I was a bit worried at first. Kimberly [Wyatt] and Ashley [Banjo] are both professionally trained dancers, where as Aston isn't and I was concerned he'd get swamped. But he's stood his ground. He's impressed me!

She added: "He's like a superstar. All the girls cry when they see him. They run up to him, hug him and then they can't let go!"

Former Pussycat Doll star Wyatt recently revealed she was dubious about Merrygold's dancing credentials at first.

Talking to the Daily Star she confessed: “I didn’t know what to expect from Aston. I was unsure what he would bring to the panel as a judge. As we got started I realised he has a great perspective. He is successful at performing to thousands of people and is self-taught. He surprises me with a lot of the feedback he gives. I’m like, ‘Yes, I totally agree’.”

The N-Dubz singer - who has graced the hit TV talent series' judging panel for two seasons - faced criticism while on the show this year for dating footballer Danny Simpson after his ex-girlfriend claimed she was pregnant with his child.

Former X Factor contestants JLS are friends with Tulisa and members Gill and Marvin Humes have weighed in on the star's situation.

Humes told Closer magazine: "Tulisa is fine - having the ups and downs of your love life aired in public is all part and parcel of being famous. They're both very happy. I think people are too judgemental.

Gill added: "At the end of the day, Tulisa's an amazing X Factor judge because she's a girl who reached the top of the music industry from nothing. That's a massive achievement and everyone should focus on that."

JLS still get excited by the female attention they receive, even though it sometimes becomes a "health and safety hazard".

The four piece - comprising Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams, Marvin Humes and J.B. Gill - rose to stardom after finishing in runners-up position on The X Factor in 2008.

The handsome group have since gained a legion of admiring female followers, who they still greatly appreciate to this day.

Speaking to Closer magazine, Merrygold laughed: "Of course! When we visited Ireland, we had about 100 girls climbing up and down our tour bus trying to get in. We were told not to get out because it would become a health and safety hazard!"

JLS have been working together for five years, and have joked about arguments amongst them.

Williams quipped: "It's horrendous! I can't stand them. Aston eats all the food on out tour bus!" before Humes added: "Truthfully, we all get on really well because we've got similar goals and we've all kept out feet firmly on the ground.

The singer and his three friends Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams and J.B. Gill rose to stardom after finishing in runners-up position on The X Factor in 2008.

Humes - who is currently expecting a baby with Saturdays singer Rochelle - has admitted the worst thing about being in the public eye.

He told new! magazine: "The thing that can get to you is not being able to see your friends and family lots. You have to put this first. You miss weddings, christenings, birthdays, holidays ... For me, that's the big downside. But we've got good lives."

The stars also discussed if they'd ever take a break from the music industry before making a big comeback years down the line.

Humes explained: "We plan to release an album every year, so we'll have to see how things go," before Williams added: "If you're tired of us you can just let us know!"

Marvin Humes' JLS bandmates have revealed what kind of dad he will most likely be.

Humes and his The Saturdays singer wife Rochelle - who married in a lavish ceremony at Blenheim Palace in July of this year - took to Twitter last month to announce they are expecting a baby.

Humes' JLS bandmates thinks the star will make a great dad, with Aston Merrygold saying the experience will be "fun".

Oritsé Williams continued: "[He'll be] a strict one. He'll tell the worst jokes, guaranteed," before Humes laughingly added: "I've already started!"

Humes recently sold his bachelor pad to One Direction's Niall Horan, and says Rochelle is in charge of decorating their new family home.

He joked to new! magazine: "She's all over it. I put my two pence in, but it doesn't really get listened to! I let her take control."

Humes added the pair will be spending "lots of quality time together" this Christmas after spending such a lot of their marriage apart this year while pursuing projects with their respective bands.

JLS have advised One Direction to ignore the cameras while filming their upcoming 3D concert film.

The chart-topping boy band - comprising Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne - announced earlier this month that they will be releasing their first documentary-style movie in August next year.

JLS: Eyes Wide Open 3D premiered last year, and band member Oritsé Williams has offered some words of wisdom to the five-piece.

He explained to Digital Spy: "I think all they've got to do is be themselves. Forget that the cameras are there - just be themselves, do what they do, have fun, enjoy it. And make sure they give their fans the biggest entertainment that they've come here to see.

He added: "With those kinds of things you can't focus too much on the cameras, or it takes over you, and you start being something that you're not. And then people are like, 'Oh, I didn't know he was like that'. But you're not really like that! Just be themselves."

The two former X Factor acts are famously close, and JLS star Marvin Humes say they regularly stay in touch.

He revealed: "Yeah, if we're not playing golf together or going to nights out, when we get the chance to - it's usually on BBM. I speak to Niall a lot. He's always messaging me about bits and pieces."

"This is usually a greatest hits in boy band territory but we don’t know if we’re ready for that yet. There will definitely be an album next year.

“There’s a lot of competition for us – not just from other boy bands. So we have to stay ahead of the game and stay relevant coming up with new hits.

“We keep trying to make big records.”

JLS have teamed up with One Direction for a special charity competition.

As previously reported, the 'Hottest Girl In The World' stars recently revealed that they were partnering with Cancer Research for a new fundraising drive in association with the JLS Foundation.

One of their initiatives is to run a competition which sees the winner attend a soundcheck with a "mystery boyband" and spend time with JLS, before watching the "secret" act at London's O2 Arena.

It has now been confirmed that One Direction are the "mystery" group.

The competition costs £1 to enter and people can enter as many times as they would like.

The prize draw ends at midday on Friday (December 21), with the events taking place in spring next year.
