JLS star backs Olly Murs over Brit Awards snub

JLS star Aston Merrygold has backed Olly Murs’ claims that he deserved more recognition at tonight’s BRIT Awards.

Murs, who is performing alongside Rizzle Kicks at the ceremony, is only nominated in the Best British Single category for ‘Heart Skips A Beat,’ and last week expressed his disappointment at missing out on a nod for Best British Male.

Merrygold, whose band is up for the same award as Murs with ‘She Makes Me Wanna,’ told The Daily Star that he can’t understand why the 27-year-old has been overlooked elsewhere:

"It doesn't make sense. He's had two double platinum albums and number one [singles].

"But he'll perform on the night, show what he can do and do himself justice."

Ed Sheeran is hotly-tipped to win Best British Male but faces tough competition from James Blake, James Morrison, Noel Gallagher and Professor Green
