JLS say acts like One Direction prove X Factor critics wrong

JLS believe the success of X Factor UK acts have proved the show's doubters wrong.

The reality TV show often comes under fire from large swathes of the British population but it has a notable amount of success stories.

Recent contestants such as One Direction, Little Mix, Cher Lloyd and Olly Murs have all enjoyed popularity both at home and abroad.

Speaking to Yahoo, JLS singer Marvin Humes said that this is reflective of why the X Factor merits a place on prime time TV.

Talking about his own band's success, the singer said: "When you get to a level of success, people try to have a negative point on stuff but I don't see much argument, really. Not only have we proved critics wrong, some of the biggest acts around the world now have come from X Factor."

He added: "One Direction, Olly Murs, Leona Lewis, JLS, Cher Lloyd - the list goes on. What the show's done for our country and people around the world is built talent that's gone on to tour the world, win BRIT Awards, have stadium tours around the world - it's unbelievable."

Despite performing arena tours around the country and selling bags of records, JLS are set to call it a day at the end of the year following a greatest hits live jaunt.
