Jedward say they are bringing Eurovision back to its "glory days"

Jedward have proclaimed that they are bringing the Eurovision Song Contest back to its "glory days".

The competition's reputation has suffered somewhat in recent years due to the standard of acts and its penchant for occasional political voting.

However, speaking to the BBC, Ireland duo Jedward - who are competing in Saturday's (May 26) final - reckon that they are bringing the show to a new audience and back to its glory days too.

John said: "I think we're really excited because I think we've brought a whole brand new audience back to Eurovision. I feel like we've made Eurovision an amazing competition to watch on TV."

Edward meanwhile said: "I think me and John, we brought back that excitement to Eurovision. Before Eurovision was something that was in the background, in the distance, that some people would watch, but now it's like a really mainstream name."

John replied: "We've brought Eurovision back to the glory days."
