Jonas Brothers confirm split: 'It's over'

Following a turbulent few weeks, American trio the Jonas Brothers have confirmed that they have split and won't be reconciling for the tour that they cancelled at the eleventh hour.

Earlier this month, the superstars axed every tour date they had scheduled just days before they were due to head out for the run and cited "a deep rift between the band" as the reason for the shock decision. Then, they deleted their collective Twitter page, fuelling rumours that they might have chosen to bow out of music.

The 'Burnin' Up' heartthrobs gave fans a glimmer of hope last week after telling their followers to "bear with" them, but they have now issued a joint statement to People magazine in which they revealed they have quit.

Nick Jonas said: "It's really hard to say 'forever'. We're closing a chapter, for sure." Member Kevin added, "It's over for now," and Joe also spoke about this new turning point, telling the magazine: "It was a unanimous decision."

Nick explained that the decision was made back on October 3 after they all got together to discuss the uncertain future of the group: "I was feeling kind of trapped. I needed to share my heart with my brothers."
