Justin Bieber has praised his father in glowing terms on Instagram.

The singer's 38-year-old dad Jeremy has come under fire recently following Bieber's brushes with the law, with people suggesting that he hasn't been keeping the singer under control.

The 'Believe' star has refuted these claims with a celebratory post on Twitter in which he says his dad is the best around.

Bieber said: "I have the greatest Dad in the world. He's taught me how to love, learn, and stay true to myself. I will forever be grateful because he was my superehero #batman (sic)."

The singer's latest altercation with the law came earlier this week after he was charged with assaulting a driver in Toronto.

Bieber was previously arrested in Miami for DUI, driving without a valid licence and resisting arrest.
