Justin Bieber almost made his WWE debut last summer

Former WWE writer Kevin Eck has revealed that Justin Bieber almost made his wrestling debut last summer as he was poised to kick off a six-man match at the big SummerSlam event in Los Angeles in August 2014.

The contract, according to Eck, would have seen the 'As Long As You Love Me' heartthrob team up with WWE stars John Cena and Big Show, but people were concerned about the singer's troubled reputation and so his involvement was overturned.

Eck explains: "Everyone knows that pop star Justin Bieber is a member of (boxer) Floyd Mayweather's entourage. What isn't known is that Bieber... was interested in stepping into a WWE ring last summer to make his wrestling debut. The idea was that Bieber would team with John Cena and Big Show to face the Wyatt Family in a six-man tag match that would have headlined SummerSlam in Los Angeles."

"The proposed match was discussed among the booking team (which I was on) about five months before SummerSlam, but a deal with Bieber never came to fruition... My concern at the time was that Cena teaming up with Bieber - who was making headlines for all the wrong reasons and most definitely would have been booed unmercifully by the WWE audience - would not have done Cena, the face of the company, any favours."

Eck went onto add that believes Bieber might return to the sport in the future: "It certainly wouldn't surprise me to see Bieber do something with WWE at some point."
