Justin Bieber expected to beat One Direction in US albums chart

Justin Bieber looks set to topple One Direction in the US albums chart.

Both acts released new albums on Friday (November 13), with the Canadian unleashing 'Purpose' and the British/Irish group unveiling 'Made in the A.M.'.

Bieber is expected to shift 450,000 copies in the US in the record's first week, plus an extra 75,000 album units through streaming.

One Direction, however, are estimated to get a total of 475,000 combined sales.

If this comes to fruition, Bieber will deny the group their fifth No.1 album in a row in the US.

In the UK, however, One Direction are in pole position to land the No.1 album.

Speaking to Digital Spy recently, singer Niall Horan dismissed suggestions of a chart battle between the two acts.
