Justin Bieber breaks world Spotify record with new album

Justin Bieber has smashed a global Spotify record.

The singer released his latest album 'Purpose' on November 13.

Spotify have confirmed that the record was streamed 205 million times in its first week on the service.

This means that it is now the most streamed album on Spotify in its first seven days online.

The previous record holder was The Weeknd's 'Beauty Behind The Madness'.

Bieber's new record peaked at No.2 in the UK on Friday (November 20).

However, the album reached the top spot in the US.

The singer endured a tough chart battle with One Direction's fifth album 'Made in the A.M.', which was released on the same day.
