Justin Bieber has today premiered his eagerly-anticipated new single, ‘Boyfriend.’

The Canadian teen idol, who last week asked fans to choose the artwork for the song, took to Twitter to countdown the unveiling of the first release from his third album, ‘Believe.’

Produced by ‘Cooler Than Me’ hit-maker Mike Posner, the song combines a Justin Timberlake-esque acoustic R&B sound with seductive whispered lyrics such as "If I was your boyfriend, never let you go/Keep you on my arm girl, you'd never be alone."

The 18-year-old, who recently appeared bloodied and bruised in a controversial photoshoot for Complex magazine, told USA Today that his new record will surprise a lot of people:

"I'm maturing, and my music is maturing, so I wanted to do something different. I've got a lot of great collaborators working with me, and we're thinking outside the box."
