Justin Bieber says he will "never forget" visiting Philippines typhoon disaster zone

Justin Bieber has opened up on his recent trip to the typhoon-ravaged Philippines.

Typhoon Haiyan recently hit the country and over 5,200 people were killed, with countless more left homeless.

As previously reported, the Canadian singer made a surprise visit this week to one of the affected areas to sing songs for schoolchildren.

Speaking to the Mirror, the 19-year-old said of his trip: "I came to the Philippines to help my fans understand the importance of involvement on all levels. It’s easy to pledge my commitment to this cause, but it’s staying involved that matters most to me and that is exactly what I plan to do.

"I want to bring as much awareness to the devastated areas as I can. Seeing the suffering first hand and interacting with the community was an experience I will never forget."

His visit followed on from the launch of an online fundraising drive launched by Bieber to generate cash for the typhoon relief efforts.

Fans can pledge money for the cause and in doing so, they are entered into a prize draw to win the chance to spend time with the singer in the studio.

It has currently raised a massive $670,000 in just a matter of days. Watch Justin Bieber in the Philippines below:
