Justin Timberlake was initially unsure about being on new Michael Jackson album

Justin Timberlake has admitted that he was originally uneasy about featuring on a new posthumous Michael Jackson album.

The record 'Xscape' - Jackson's second since his death in 2009 - will hit shelves around the world from May 9.

It features a number of the singer's unreleased tunes "contemporised" by current producers and artists.

Timberlake features on the duet 'Love Never Felt So Good' and he told Ryan Seacrest's radio show that the strength of material encouraged him to take part.

The singer said: "My first reaction was, ‘There is no way’...I’m such a loyal fan to him and his music that it seemed almost too much of a thing, but then I kept hearing this song and...it just felt so good. It kind of spoke to me. It reminded me of some of the stuff Timbaland and I had worked on on '20/20 Experience'.”

Timberlake meanwhile added that he originally wrote N'Sync's 2001 song 'Gone' for the King of Pop:

“Interestingly enough, there were songs on the last N'Sync album - one song in particular, 'Gone', originally I wrote that song for Michael. I’ve always been a big fan of him and I think back to...it made me reminisce to the times he performed at the VMAs with N'Sync, where we performed at Madison Square Garden with him, and the numerous meetings I had had with him in the past just about music.

"I don’t know if he just never heard the record, couldn’t get it to him...or he heard it and maybe didn’t want to record it. I kind of got word that he had never heard the record."
