Justin Timberlake: 'I wrote *NSYNC's 'Gone' for Michael Jackson'

Singer and actor Justin Timberlake has revealed that one of the songs from *NSYNC's career was written with Michael Jackson in mind.

During an interview with Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM, the 'SexyBack' superstar explained that he penned the track 'Gone' for the King of Pop although his own boyband ended up using it for themselves:

“Interestingly enough, there were songs on the last *NSYNC album… one song in particular, “Gone,” originally I wrote that song for Michael. I’ve always been a big fan of him and I think back to… it made me reminisce to the times he performed at the VMAs with *NSYNC, where we performed at Madison Square Garden with him, and the numerous meetings I had had with him in the past just about music.”

When asked why the 'Beat It' icon never recorded 'Gone', Timberlake added that it unfortunately just didn't happen: "I don’t know if he just never heard the record, couldn’t get it to him… or he heard it and maybe didn’t want to record it. I kind of got word that he had never heard the record.”

Timberlake now features on a new Michael Jackson song, called 'Love Never Felt So Good', and admitted that he was initially wary of recording vocals for the posthumous offering: "My first reaction was, ‘There is no way’...I’m such a loyal fan to him and his music that it seemed almost too much of a thing, but then I kept hearing this song and...it just felt so good. It kind of spoke to me. It reminded me of some of the stuff Timbaland and I had worked on on '20/20 Experience'.”
