Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have opened a legal case against heat magazine.

The celebrity couple allege that they were defamed in an article published in the European edition of the magazine in September.

The piece is reported to have included photos of Timberlake along with quotes which were apparently from his wife Biel.

Papers were lodged at the High Court in Dublin his week against the magazine's publishers Bauer.

Solicitor Paul Tweed from law firm Johnson's confirmed to RTE that defamation action had been lodged.

Timberlake married actress Biel in 2012.
