Justin Timberlake breaks One Direction US pre-order record

Justin Timberlake's new album has beat a US sales record previously set by One Direction.

The pop singer released his latest record 'The 20/20 Experience' in the States on Tuesday (March 19) and it is expected to perform well in the charts.

Hits Daily Double report that it shifted a few thousand more digital pre-orders of One Direction's popular 2012 effort 'Take Me Home'.

The boyband managed to sell 136k pre-orders of their album, a record at the time - but it has now been beaten by the 'Suit & Tie' man.

Timberlake's new album meanwhile is on course to shift over half a million units on its first week on sale in the US.
