Kaiser Chiefs top UK albums chart

Kaiser Chiefs' new record has hit No.1 on the UK albums chart.

The indie-rockers released their new effort 'Education, Education, Education & War' on Monday (March 31) and it looks like singer Ricky Wilson's stint on The Voice UK has done the band no harm.

The Official Charts Company revealed today (April 2) that it has gone straight in at No.1 - gazumping their last record's peak of No.10.

However, it is only 700 copies ahead of last week's No.1, Sam Bailey's debut 'The Power of Love', which drops to No.2.

If Kaiser Chiefs do remain at the top of the pile come Sunday (April 6), they will bag their second No.1 album as they follow on from 2007's 'Yours Truly, Angry Mob'.

At No.3 meanwhile on the midweek update is Johnny Cash's new entry 'Out Among the Stars', with George Michael's 'Symphonica' following at No.4.

At No.5 is Christina Perri's new entry 'Head or Heart' and US rockers Steel Panther aren't far behind at No.6 with their fellow newbie 'All You Can Eat'.
