Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson 'turned down The Voice offer'

Kaiser Chiefs mainman Ricky Wilson has revealed that the BBC approached him about appearing on their new TV talent show The Voice.

The show launched late last month and features Jessie J, Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and Danny O'Donoghue as coaches.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Wilson said no to the proposal of him being a coach on the show because it "just didn't feel right", suggesting that integrity came first before sales. He said:

"I had an email conversation with the BBC about it, but it just didn't feel right. The reason to say yes to the offer is obvious - those huge viewing figures would have shifted us a lot of records."

He added: "The musical landscape has changed a lot since our first single in 2004, and the way of the world now is if you're on one of those big TV shows, you sell records. But if you've got that one bit of doubt, you should listen to that more than the 99% of you that's screaming, 'Do it'."
