Kanye West on David Bowie petition: 'I'm not touching his music'

Kanye West never had any plans at all to record covers of David Bowie's music, according to his spokesperson.

The rumour that West was planning to do so was published earlier this week and an online petition to stop West from doing so, was started. The petition amassed 5,000 signatures.

The summary of the petition reads: "David Bowie was one of the single most important musicians of the 20th and 21st century, it would be a sacrilege to let it be ruined by Kanye West."

West is currently busy working on his new album. He marked the legend's death on January 11 with the following tweet:

"David Bowie was one of my most important inspirations, so fearless, so creative, he gave us magic for a lifetime."
