Kasabian are on course to top the UK albums chart this weekend.

The band's new effort - the sparsely titled '48:13' - has debuted at No.1 on the Official Charts Company's midweek update.

It is currently 26,000 units ahead of its nearest rival, Coldplay's 'Ghost Stories', which rests at No.2.

At No.3 on the midweek update is Jack White's new entry 'Lazaretto', which is followed by Passenger's fellow newbie 'Whispers'.

Completing the top five on the midweek update meanwhile is Sam Smith's 'In the Lonely Hour', which drops from No.1.

Anathema's 'Distant Satellites' is a new entry at No.16 whilst Janet Devlin, who Pressparty recently chatted to, is in at No.18 with her debut effort 'Running With Scissors'.
