Kasabian hit No.1: “What a way to kick off the biggest three weeks of our lives“

Kasabian have ended Sam Smith’s two-week stand at No.1 on the Official Albums Chart with their latest full-length, '48:13'.

The critically acclaimed album, which takes its name from its running time, has today become the Leicester band’s fourth UK chart topping album. Kasabian scored their first Number 1 album in 2006 with Empire, and 2009’s West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum and 2011’s Velociraptor! also took the top spot.

Says Kasabian guitarist Sergio Pizzorno: "What a way to kick off the biggest three weeks of our lives: achieving our fourth consecutive Number 1 album, followed by a 50,000-strong crowd at our Leicester homecoming gig and the pinnacle - headlining Glastonbury!"
