Kasabian: 'The Brits are trying to shut rock and roll out'

Kasabian star Serge Pizzorno believes the Brit Awards are actively trying to push away "working class" rock music.

The Leicester band headlined Glastonbury in 2014, but they didn't receive any nominations for the Brits ahead of their February 25 ceremony.

The act were today (January 29) confirmed to perform at this year's BAFTAs and Pizzorno told the Independent that he thinks the Brits are trying to avoid rock.

He said: "It’s a conspiracy. They’re trying to shut rock and roll out of it [the Brits]. What sort of message does that send to working class rock and roll bands which the industry is in dire need of?”

Kasabian couldn’t have done any more last year. It’s bulls***t really. It’s way more exciting playing the Baftas than the Brits."

Rock will be represtened at the Brits in the shape of Royal Blood, who will perform on the night and be in with a chance of winning the British Group and British Album gongs.
