Kasabian pay homage to Bugsy Malone during Coachella party gig

Kasabian have paid homage to their favourite film, ‘Bugsy Malone,’ by performing one of its most famous numbers during a party near Coachella Festival last night.

The Leicestershire quartet, who were appearing at Mulberry's Firepit Party ahead of tonight's slot at the Californian festival, ended their short acoustic set of hits with a rendition of 'We Could Have Been Anything That We Wanted To Be' from the 1976 kids classic.

Frontman Tom Meighan earlier told the NME that the idea for the cover was inspired by his life-long love of the film:

“Honest to god, I probably watch it [Bugsy Malone] twice a year. It's just one of those amazing films. I remember getting funny feelings when I was a kid about Tallulah. I was probably about five years old when I saw it, but it was one of those moments y'know.”

Guitarist Serge Pizzorno also declared his admiration for Alan Parker's directorial debut, adding: "The soundtrack's unbelievable. They're just anthems you know!"
