The songstress explained that 'Wide Awake' was the final part of her latest album's journey and now that it's been released she hopes to expand her business skills by creating a label that aims to help artists achieve more "financial success".

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Perry explained:

"I'm preparing for it now. And when this record label does come to fruition, I'm going to try and avoid the things that take away any fighting chance for an artist to have financial success."

"As people are coming to me with opportunities, I'm thinking, 'How would I want to be treated?'"

She also recently opened up about her beliefs in both love and marriage now that she's gone through a divorce, and revealed that she will be more cautious after everything that's happened but still sees significant value in them.

The 'Wide Awake' singer split from husband Russell Brand late last year and a divorce soon ensued.

She has since been rumoured to be dating Florence + The Machine guitarist Rob Ackroyd, and speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Perry said that she hasn't lost hope of finding love again. She said:

"I still believe in love and marriage. I've just learned lessons along the way. I regret nothing."

As previously reported, Perry said in the same interview that she was so overcome with emotion as a result of her private life that she cried before performing live.

She also told the Hollywood Reporter that she has a "spiritual base" and has an "open-ended" conversation with God.

The singer's parents are well known religious types and Perry was raised in a church environment.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Perry said that her parents aren't as strict as people think and that they will always "love her as their daughter". She said:

"People love the idea of a good girl gone bad, thinking that my parents were so strict and disowned me, but that actually wasn't the case. Even though they don't necessarily agree with some of the things I do, they love me as their daughter. That's always been their perspective."

Perry also spoke about her own spirituality, adding that she has an "open-ended" conversation with God. She said:

"I still have a spiritual base and a spiritual foundation. And my conversation with God is very open-ended. I pray for humility, honestly, because it's very easy to be caught up in this world."

The singer endured a divorce late last year and through to 2012, with husband Russell Brand separating from Perry.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Perry admitted that she was overcome with emotion at times, including before performing live. She said:

"What was going on in my personal life was so overwhelming that I had to bend over to let those tears fall straight out of my eye sockets and not my false lashes just as I'm about to go up on that ramp and sing 'Teenage Dream'. I had to smack myself across the face and say, 'These problems are my problems, they are not my audience's problems, learn to separate that'."

As previously reported, Katy Perry recently told MTV about her new single 'Wide Awake', calling it a "dose of reality".

The singer has often been linked with colourful, positive pop but she told MTV that her new cut is perhaps a little more down to earth.

She said that the song almost represents "coming down from a high" and focuses on how people need to deal with the "facts of life". Perry said:

"I have a lot of different emotions and feelings in all of my songs. This song in particular is a dose of reality."

Perry continued: "It's kind of like coming down from a high. You've been on cloud nine for so long and it can't always be so sweet and sometimes you need to realise that, and you have to pick yourself up and move forward and face the facts of life, and know that this is just a lesson you learn and you're stronger because of it."

As previously reported, Perry has now released the video for 'Wide Awake', which sees the singer take a Gothic fairy tale turn.

The pop songstress uploaded the video online today (June 19) as the anticipation for her soon to be released 3D film 'Part Of Me' grows.

'Wide Awake' was written for the film and featured on her 'Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection' album.

The video enjoys a sort of gothic fairy tale theme and sees Perry eat a poisoned strawberry.

The clip ends with the singer releasing a butterfly then heading out on stage to perform live.

Perry penned the song for her soon to be released 'Part Of Me' 3D film and she included the track on her 2012 'Teenage Dream' re-release.

Speaking to MTV, Perry suggested that the track is a perfect way to end the 'Teenage Dream' era as she looks ahead to recording a new album. Speaking about 'Wide Awake', she said:

"I love this song so much. It was a song that I hadn't written for Teenage Dream.  I was doing this movie and they asked me if I wanted to write an end-title song for the movie and I was like, 'I know exactly what I want to say'. I was really kind of dying to write another song at that point. I didn't want to wait until I did a whole new record, and it's kind of the perfect last word of me at this moment."

Speaking to MTV News about the video, which is due to be unveiled on June 19, the songstress explained that she wanted to use 'Wide Awake' as a way to close the 'Teenage Dream' chapter of both her life and career so thought it was appropriate to make it personal:

"I just wanted to tell a story about myself going through this journey, maybe sometimes trying to get out of the maze. There's good parts; there's bad parts."

"Of course, there has been a lot of things that went on last year that I had to get through and overcome."

The clip that she has unveiled as a preview for the full-length video shows a young girl flipping through a fairy tale-style book.

The movie will be released around the UK and USA in cinemas from July 5, and the 'Teenage Dream' hitmaker has now shared yet another clip from it with her followers around the world.

In this new preview, Perry can be seen talking about her suggestive hit 'I Kissed A Girl' and how her parents reacted to it: "I think people love the idea of a good girl gone bad, and they think my parents have disowned me, but that's not the story at all."

Her sister, Angela Hudson, also opens up about how Katy initially asked her to relay the news to their religious mother and father: "When Katy decided that 'I Kissed A Girl' was going to be her first single, I said, 'Have you told mum and dad?' and she said, 'No, can you?'"

Earlier today (June 13), she treated her fans to a sneak peek of her forthcoming music video for 'Wide Awake'.

The singer is branching out into cinema next month with the release of the 3D film, which is set to document her recent life.

Perry took to Twitter to ask which poster she should use to promote the flick on Twitter, which fans asked to post a hashtag corresponding to their favoured poster.

As previously reported, Perry has uploaded a teaser clip for the video of her single 'Wide Awake', which was written for the 'Part Of Me' film.

The track is the latest single to be released from the pop singer, with the song coming off her 'Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection' compilation album.

'Wide Awake' was written for Perry's forthcoming 'Part Of Me' 3D film and she has now uploaded a teaser clip for the song's video.

The video sees a girl looking through an old book, with images from Perry's recent music videos acting as each chapter. Perry is also seen eating a poisoned strawberry.

As previously reported, Katy Perry recently surprised her fans at a recent screening of her 3D film 'Part Of Me' by making a personal appearance and taking photos with them.

The 27-year-old, who will perform in front of 80,000 fans at the Wembley Stadium event, told Capital FM that she is excited to be on the same bill as so many great artists, particularly a certain The Voice coach: 

“It's great company- lots of fun people that are going to be on stage. I love Jessie J, I have such a bad crush on her. She's just cool – she's cool."

"I mean it's always nice when there's a bunch of people on the stage and there all stars  and there's a bit of a 'who's coming next what are they bringing' type thing. Maybe it does put a little extra spark in your step, but really it's just fun because you know it's going to be a great night."

The ‘Price Tag’ star had earlier admitted she’d be up for duetting with Perry and fellow US performer Kelly Clarkson at the gig when asked by the station:

“Why not, I'm happy to do it. If Katy and Kelly are listening – let's get it on, let's sing a song."

"It's been thrown down from Jessie J to Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson. What could we do? Something big – maybe a medley. Wow, could you imagine?"

Speaking to television host Graham Norton, the 'Part Of Me' hitmaker admitted that while she has appeared on The X Factor as a guest judge in the past she simply doesn't feel ready to take on a role as a permanent panelist so turned the exciting opportunity down:

"There's not actual paper contracts, but people have been interested in me judging other people. I would do it but I'm just not ready for it yet. Maybe in the future, I would love to."

During the interview, which will air tonight (June 8) at 10.35pm BST, Perry also opened up about the past year and explained that it's been a difficult time for her, but she tries to keep her personal life separate from her career where she can:

"Even though I went through some pretty tough times last year I had to separate that because I know my problems are my problems and they are not the audience's problems."

The singer was hosting a preview of her new film at a London cinema as the movie's official release date edges nearer.

However, Perry turned up to the screening and sat with her fans, posing for photos and even giving one plucky man in the audience a hug.

She meanwhile posed for photos in the cinema's foyer, holding a box of popcorn and generally looking happy to have made her fans' day.

As previously reported, Katy Perry opened up on the Graham Norton Show recently about her past year, admitting that she had a lot of "tough times" as her marriage dissolved.

The singer split up with former husband Russell Brand at the tail end of 2011, with divorce papers filed on December 30.

Speaking on Graham Norton's talk show, Perry said that whilst her personal life wasn't great, she had to distance that from her job.

She added that her problems are not the audience's too, and that she put a smile on her face and went on stage with her "t*ts spinning". She said:

"I love being on stage and even though I went through some pretty tough times last year I had to separate that because I know my problems are my problems and they are not the audience's problems. They are here to see a show and to be entertained, so I got on that lift, put a smile on my face and went up (on stage) with my t*ts spinning!"
