The pop princess seems to be on a rather philanthropic mission of late as she recently donated her amazing cotton candy outfit to the American Red Cross and has now put the little figurine up as a lot for the Elephant Parade fundraiser for Asian elephant conservation. 

Writing about her specially designed statue, which she has named Dumbina and is in the all-American colours of red, white and blue, Perry explained:

"My elephant was inspired by my California Dreams Tour and Candyfornia - a magical, glittering place where everything is sweet! The crystals that adorn the elephant are precious, just like the Asian elephants that need our protection. Let’s raise awareness!"

The 'Teenage Dream' superstar announced the exciting news via her official Twitter account last night, November 21, and wrote:

"I have a HUGE announcement that I can finally tell u (I've had to keep it a secret 4ever!) U ready?!?! I'm so excited 2 announce I'll be HOSTING Saturday Night Live Dec 10! This is the cherry on top and @RobynKonichiwa is part of it!"

26-year-old Perry has performed as a musical guest on the show in the past, but will now take on presenting duties during proceedings on December 10 and Robyn, who recently supported her on tour, will treat the audience to a live set.

Perry has denied being pregnant over the past months, but says that she would love to start a family with husband, Russell Brand.

She even went as far as to say, on the Ellen DeGeneres show; "If it doesn't hurt the first time. I'll keep popping them out."

Perry ends her huge 122-date California Dreams Tour next week, and will deserve the time off.

The pop princess donated the stunning outfit to charity on November 10 and it was put on eBay for fans to bid on. The lucky winner paid $8,100 (£5,062) and the money will be donated to Perry's cause of choice, The American Red Cross. 

She also agreed to meet the buyer at her concert in Oakland on November 21 where she will hand over the eye-catching ensemble.

The Californian singer is barely recognisable as she goes for granny chic whilst singing about a young love.

The emotional song sees Perry reminiscing about a relationship that ended it tears and tragedy when her onscreen lover, played by Diego Luna, who has appeared in films like 'Y Tu Mamá También' and 'Milk', crashes his Mustang after the young couple have an argument.

The video ends with an aged Perry standing in the spot where he died as Johnny Cash's 'You Are My Sunshine' plays in the background.

The pop princess revealed the exciting news during an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which will air in the U.S. today (November 11), and explained she decided to hire a venue out of her own pocket to thank fans for their support and to celebrate the end of her international California Dreams Tour:

"I am giving thanks to all of my fans. This is my big announcement on Ellen that no one has heard about or knows about."

"I played 121 shows... and I want to finish it off by renting out Staples (Center) myself and giving a free concert to anyone in the world that wants to come."

The star, who wore the pink and red ensemble during dates of her international California Dreams Tour, has put the dress on eBay to help raise funds for the Red Cross.

The bid will run from now (November 10) until Monday, November 14 and the lucky winner will be presented with the stunning outfit backstage at the 'Teenage Dream' singer's concert in Oakland, California. They will also be treated to a meet and greet with Katy Perry herself. 

A message underneath her eBay listing reads: "All proceeds from the winning bid will support American Red Cross Disaster Relief, helping people affected by disasters such as the 2011 spring storms."

The 'Teenage Dream' superstar, who enjoyed great success at MTV's EMAs on Sunday, November 6 as she picked up the trophy for Best Live Act, has been recognised in numerous catergories that span the entertainment industry and include music, film and television. 

She is up for the titles of Best Song for 'E.T.', Best Music Video for 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)', Favourite Female Artist, Tour Headliner, Best Pop Act, Favourite Animated Movie Voice for her role as Smurfette in 'The Smurfs' and Favourite TV Guest Star as the sexy Honey on 'How I Met Your Mother'. 

The ceremony will be held on January 6 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and you can watch the trailer for her forthcoming music video for 'The One That Got Away' here:

The song is the candy-eyed singer's next single, which the teaser clip suggests will be released on November 11. It's about young love that didn't last but remains as one that she can never forget, even when she's much older (as pictured on the left) and sporting grey hair.

Her leading man is played by Mexican actor, Diego Luna, who has appeared in 'Y Tu Mamá También' and 'Milk'. 

As the two stars portray the ups and downs of love in the 36-second clip, a narrator tells their story:

 "The past is like a handful of dust...It filters through your fingers, disappearing little by little...I wish, for one day, I could go back...In another life, I would do things differently".

In an interview with MTV, Perry, who is just about to finish up the European leg of her California Dreams tour, has said that she's excited to share the softer side to her fans:

"I'm so pleased to select 'The One That Got Away' as my sixth single because this song shows a very different side of me that I haven't shown with my past singles on this record. I think that everyone can relate to this song...I wrote this song about when you promise someone forever, but you end up not being able to follow through. It's a bittersweet story — hopefully, the listener learns from hearing it and never has to say they had 'The One' get away".

The 'Firework' star, who is just about to finish up her European leg of her California Dreams tour in Dublin next week, said that she can't always play the role of the "kooky" popstar:

“Well, I’m not all pink champagne, that’s for sure. I have different sides to my character and personality, and I just play them whenever I feel like playing them, you know? And I couldn’t be all cotton candy and fluff, anyway, because that would be too sweet – you can’t have cake for dinner all the time, can you?

"Every once in a while you gotta have the rest of the food groups or else you’ll just rot. So, I like to keep it balanced, and it’s nice to show that side because it surprises people, I guess. Not many people are aware that I started out playing acoustic guitar and singing in cafés, and the like. I didn’t always have the crazy outfits”.

Perry will also be performing at MTV EMA, along with Adam Lambert and Red Hot Chili Peppers, in Belfast on November 6, where she has received four nominations, including Best Female and Best Live.
