Katy Perry speaks out against gun crime: "I pray for change"

Pop star Katy Perry has voiced her criticisms and fears over the prevalence of gun crime in America.

The past week has seen a number of public shootings with a student shot and critically wounded at Widener University in Pennsylvania on January 20, another shot and killed on January 21 at Purdue University, a further fatality at South Carolina State University on January 24, and a shooting at a mall in Maryland yesterday (January 25).

Katy Perry took to Twitter to air her opinions on news of these deadly events.

Perry wrote: “Is anyone else really sad about the constant stream of shootings and how normal it's becoming to see these headlines on a weekly basis?”

She added: “Scared to go to school? Scared to go to the mall? Scared to go to the movies? Me too. When will there be ACTUAL change? How many more?!”

The ‘Unconditionally’ singer finished by stating: “You and I both know this is getting embarrassing... My heart goes out to ALL the victims & their families this week. I pray for change.”
