Katy Perry video receives edit after Allah criticism

Katy Perry's latest video has been digitally edited after it received criticism for featuring an Allah symbol reduced to sand.

The singer recently unveiled the promo clip for her single 'Dark Horse' and it saw Perry go with an Egyptian theme.

A man was seen wearing a necklace of the Allah symbol - the Arabic word for God - before it is turned into sand.

This prompted complaints from some sections of the Muslim community and a petition was launched to ban the clip.

The video still remains online, but it has been digitally altered to remove the Allah symbol.

The clip's hit count - over 38 million - has stayed put.

The petition's organiser Shazad Iqbal commented: "The name of Allah has been removed from the 'Dark Horse' video - we couldn't have done it without everyone's support so I thank each and every one of you deeply, our voices have been heard."
