Pop megastar Katy Perry has praised singer Sam Smith and told her 53.1 million followers that he has enough talent to be as popular as Adele is in the music world.

Writing on her official Twitter page this afternoon (May 20), the 'Dark Horse' beauty admitted that she predicts huge success for the 'Money On My Mind' singer: "I wanna predict that my mate @samsmithworld is gonna be like a male Adele but I don't want it to go to his head..."

Back in April, Smith confessed that he bumped into Perry at Californian music festival Coachella and was star struck after meeting her: "Katy’s incredibly friendly and lovely. People think these big stars are going to be divas, but once I got over being starstruck they are just normal people who like to be treated normally. And she’s fun."

He also recently named the 'Teenage Dream' sensation as one of the coolest people he has ever met, telling Digital Spy: "Oh gosh. Katy Perry's pretty cool. I was with her the other night actually, she's really cool."
