Katy Perry partners with Staples for 'Make Roar Happen' initiative

Pop sensation Katy Perry has teamed up with office supply company Staples for a new initiative called 'Make Roar Happen', which aims to celebrate and support teachers during the back-to-school season.

The 'Dark Horse' beauty and Staples will help raise funds for classroom projects and Staples has already donated $1 million to DonorsChoose.org, which is an organisation that gives money to schools so that teachers can set up great learning experiences for their pupils.

She issued an official statement on the partnership, which reads:

"I'm glad to partner with Staples on my Prismatic World Tour to raise awareness and funds for DonorsChoose.org, and to remind my fans that a small gesture can make a large impact on the very basic materials classrooms need for teachers to help students reach their full potential."

Last week, meanwhile, Perry was named the holder of a brand new and impressive record that saw her become the top certified digital artist ever by the Record Industry Association of America (RIAA).
