Katy Perry has revealed a text message she recently sent to Bruno Mars about the Super Bowl.

The singer is due to perform at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona on Sunday (February 1) for American football's showpiece event.

The event draws a TV audience of over 100 million and Perry told Billboard that she is "only f**king human" when it comes to nerves.

She also showed the publication a text message she sent Bruno Mars, who performed the event in 2014.

Perry wrote: "Hello, exclusive Super Bowl club member! I was wondering if you are in L.A. at all this month and would have tea with a sister who is about to throw up with nervousness re: [football emoji].

"I've heard about your process through our managers, but am wondering if you had more insight on important things like, spray tan the night before or three nights before? JK, or maybe not!"
