Katy Perry thanks Left Shark after bagging Super Bowl Emmy nomination

Katy Perry has paid tribute to her Super Bowl sidekick Left Shark after being nominated for an Emmy.

The singer performed the iconic half-time slot at the sporting event on February 1.

The show has now been nominated for an Emmy award in the Outstanding Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program category.

The performance received huge attention online for one of her dancers, who was dressed as a shark, seemingly doing his own thing.

Speaking on Twitter after learning of the nomination, Perry said:

"Um...Woke up to my first Emmy nomination for the Halftime show!!!

"V proud of everyone involved especially #leftshark."

Other nominees in the category include Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis: Brad Pitt and Key & Peele Presents Van And Mike: The Ascension.

This year's Emmy Awards will take place on September 20.
