Katy Perry named Forbes' top-earning musician of the year

Katy Perry has been named as the highest earning music act of 2015 by Forbes.

The annual list sees Perry taking the top spot with total earnings of $135 million this year alone. Thanks to profits from her extensive Prismatic world tour she has leaped from No. 23 in 2014’s ranking to No. 1.

One Direction came in at No. 2 with an annual income of $130 million.

Other acts making it into the top ten include Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Calvin Harris and Lady Gaga.

Last year’s top earner, Dr Dre, has now dropped to No. 28 following his 2014 earnings of $620 million following a landmark deal selling his Beats headphones line.
