Katy Perry's new LP to explore 'sexual independence'

Katy Perry made a triumphant return with new single 'Chained to the Rhythm' and she has now given fans a little taste of what her new album will be like.

During a new interview with Roman Kemp on Capital FM this week, the superstar explained that her forthcoming new LP will explore this new confidence and sexual independence that she has found lately:

"There's like a confidence that you get, a clarity ... and I think that's going to be translating into my music. There's like a beautiful independence, a sexual independence, like an identity. You know all the ladies in their thirties that are hearing this they're like, 'yeah yeah yeah', I totally, I feel you, and so all that's being translated into the music."

"It's like the start of a new era for me and this is like, one of the first interviews I've done being back I guess, I never really left but people love this idea that I like, left and came back and like, it's my big return but I was like, I was just here! I was just, like, grocery shopping!"

Katy Perry will perform live at tonight's (February 22) BRIT Awards, which will air on ITV from 7.30pm UK time live from the O2 Arena in London.
