Today is the UK's general election day and fittingly Katy Perry has spoken out about supporting Hillary Clinton in last year’s US Presidential election.

The "Chained To The Rhythm" singer followed up a promise to use her body as clickbait last year, by appearing in a comedy sketch for Funny Or Die. In the sketch, she encouraged Americans to vote by saying voters could turn up looking like "sh*t" and wearing whatever they wanted at polling stations. Perry was then seen climbing out of bed, walking to vote in a pair of white pyjamas with the US national flag on them, before ripping them off and standing completely naked, covered only by two black bars (see below).

Earlier this week, the star revealed to NME her thoughts about the election and Hilary Clinton’s loss. When asked how she felt about taking part in the hugely publicised stunt, only to see it not work, she replied:

“Oh, it worked. It worked.

“(Hillary) woke the sleeping giant and there’s something bigger than her, than me, than any one person that is happening right now. Something brilliant is really happening, which is: people are waking up. People are waking up and we wouldn’t have… we would have continued in the same pattern, in the same way, in the same comfort, in the same utopia.

“We’re waking up, we’re all voicing our opinions, we’re all getting more educated, we know the names of [members of] Parliament and the names of [United States senators] more than we know the names of band members these days. That’s how it should be, because those people actually help change our lives, sometimes.”

Perry's upcoming album is slated to have at least two political songs on it. One of them, "Bigger Than Me," is said to have been inspired by the 2016 election. Her album's first single, "Chained To The Rhythm," featuring Skip Marley, also has a political theme and includes the lyrics "living in a bubble" and "breaking down walls".

Furthermore, at the BRIT Awards in February of this year, the star performed with giant skeletons dressed like President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister, Theresa May.

Katy Perry may not be singing at Hillary Clinton's rallies anymore but we think it's safe to say that her political performances are far from over.

Perry will release her fifth studio album "Witness" tomorrow on June 9.
