Katy Perry leads this year’s MTV Video Music Awards with nine nominations.  

The pop starlet is nominated for Best Video and Best Female Video for ‘Firework’, Best Pop Video for ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)’ and Best Collaboration with Kanye West for ‘E.T.’ 

Adele and Kanye West are catching her up with seven nominations each.

All of Adele’s nominations are for her hit single, ‘Rolling in the Deep', which gives her the highest number of nominations for a single video this year. Kanye has been nominated for Best Male Video, Best Hip Hop Video and Best Collaboration for ‘All of the Lights’ featuring Rihanna and Kid Cudi amongst others.

The awards show takes place in Los Angeles on August 28 and you can watch Katy Perry perform her hit 'Firework' live on David Letterman:
