Katy Perry hints she may ditch traditional pop sound

Katy Perry has revealed that she may ditch her traditional pop sound in the future.

The 'Firework' singer, who previously claimed that her next record would be ‘real f***ing dark,’ told The Sun that at some point she hopes to make a more wholesome country-inspired album.

She said: “I’ve always wanted to make something like an acoustic record.”

The 27-year-old, who this week performed her single, ‘Part Of Me,’ on American Idol, then admitted she would love to follow in the footsteps of one of her favourite singer-songwriters:

“My favourite record is Patty Griffin’s Flaming Red. I discovered it when I was in Nashville.

“I definitely want to do a Patty Griffin-esque thing at some point. It’s something that I’m really excited about because I know I can do it and I haven’t really played that card yet.”
