Katy Perry calls for Internet to be turned off

Pop sensation Katy Perry has revealed that she believes we spend too much time online as a generation.

The 'Wide Awake' beauty took to social networking site Twitter this morning (July 27) and told her 23.9 million followers that no one writes letters or "actually talks" anymore, and it's about time the plugs were pulled on computers:

"Someone please pull the plug on the internet. Does it really better us as humans? #writealetter #whoactuallytalks #thistweetishypocritical"

Earlier this week, Perry was named as the new face of potato-chip brand Popchips and explained how excited she is to represent the product, which she described as having her "hooked" after the first bite:

"I remember it was late at night, and I was craving a midnight snack without the guilt. The bag stood out in the minibar, and I was pleasantly surprised when I read the back of the label and saw that it was a healthier choice. I was hooked after my first bite!"
